The USDA's Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, popularly known as WIC, provides foods, nutrition counseling, breastfeeding promotion, breastfeeding support and access to health services to low-income women, infants, and children WIC participants may also meet the income eligibility guidelines for the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), offered through the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services.
